Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also xcancle.org (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

Are we finally entering an era of mass shootings at people who actually deserve it?

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 53 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I really do hope so. The elites did nothing when schoolchildren were and are getting shot daily and now every psycho has a mini armory. At least its finally being put to good use

Ironically, US mass shooters switching their targets away from schools and walmarts and towards office buildings and institutions will absolutely cause congress to start pushing heavy gun control laws.

That being said, also keep speaking ill of the pigs. It just might get hate speech and hate groups banned as well.

That also crossed my mind. At least school children won't risk their lives to get educated

Going to be cautiously optimistic. Let's hope this all starts giving some pause to these ghouls gleefully ruining the world.

I think it may depend upon how the public reacts to this shooting.

Honestly, if they react the way they did with UnitedHealth, despite the condemnation from the media, then I would completely expect to see more capitalists getting capped. Shooters are usually deprived of social relations, etc. and would be desperate to be seen as heroes by the public, which would be just a pure :waow:.

From what I heard so far I think this one was chance not targeted at this person. I'd hold off until we get more info on the motive

But either way sounds like one less shithead

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago

Yeah, that's what people mentioned here too. So, sounds like the motive was unrelated/missing but the outcome was acceptable.

Maybe the motive will throw people off, since United had a vengeance element. In which case, I think we could tentatively say USians approve of revenge killings of CEOs.

The american monomyth is strong and self-sacrifice is usually inherent in it. So I guess the shooter will be received positively.
