So, iv heard for years that the coffee in America taste like crap compared to Italys coffee...I swear, first time tasting coffee/espresso from rome,Italy i went crazy! Even their black coffee has a bitter/sweetness about it, I get back on the plane to USA and...man fuck this water tasting w.e it is.

Get better coffee. Not grocery store brand or Starbucks. Check the roast date - keep it within the past two weeks. Grind your own, don't buy pre-ground.

Try to go with things like light roast, washed processed - more "speciality".

I highly recommend cxffeeblack - I use their Guji Mane for espresso and it's amazing.

Re cxffeeblack:

Cxffeeblack is a community-oriented, multi-disciplinary, education-based coffee company. Founded in 2019, by husband and wife team, Bartholomew Jones and Renata Henderson, this social enterprise is on a mission to return coffee to its African roots and in the process create an equitable Black future. Cxffeeblack became a trailblazer in the coffee industry by creating an entirely all Black coffee supply chain from Ethiopia to Memphis, TN, the first of its kind.

While I don't usually support a company solely on their About Us page, I may make an exception here. They sound like they're truly making a difference, even if it is one bag at a time.

Edit: lolololol!! Their size names are hilarious! Can't wait to try it!

I have strongly debated getting some of their coffee for my very racist father in law, just to see his head explode when he reads the back.

Well, shit. I may just get another bag lol

I may be a little harsh here, but my vote goes strongly for you to get it for him. Don't tell him to read the back. Just give it to him as an "I know you love good coffee" gift. Let him figure it out on his own

Grinding my own beans before every cup is the biggest game changer for me.

If you are considering getting a grinder, the best "budget" bur grinder I've used is the Baratza encore (ESP model). I put budget in quotes because it's still expensive IMO, but a good value for under $400

Edit: and I use an Aeropress to actually brew my coffee (using the inverted method)

You can save a lot of money by buying a used baratza. They sell literally every part for replacement, so you can just buy a used one and swap in whatever parts
