Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Had they just started reducing emissions by 1%/year in 1993, none of this would be happening to begin with. The definition of too little too late.

This kind of bitterness and blame game is exactly what the ruling class wants us to engage in so we stay divided and don't fight back effectively. We must resist this narrative and unite with everyone who is willing to fight for a livable future.

What are any of the neolib scum who created this whole situation doing to fight for a liveable future? Voting for Gavin!? YOU are part of the problem. Do BETTER neolib sheep!

Die Welt dreht sich nicht um euch und euren desolaten Staat.

Yup, but this is the world we got now. These ladies are risking more than I am, and that has me really considering what more I could do and what I'm willing to risk. We can mourn what we lost, but we can't go back in time.

This is the kind of Labrador dog logic that has cooperatively led us here like good boys. If we put the fear of GOD in these people in 1990... or 2000... "what better place than here? what better time than now?"

I can't figure out what you're trying to accomplish with any of what you're saying. good luck with whatever you're planning, though.

Ok, but also, unless you've got time travel, talking about when we needed to start doesn't help anyone. Talking about what we need to do now, maybe.
