Nobody knows yet.

Only time will tell.

No way in hell Nintendo would come out and talk about exploits in their game console. Also if they knew about it they'd fix it first.

Isn't that generally the case, though? Sure, not rootable on day zero, but usually it is only later models that get some hardware patch, leaving the earliest models with the vulnerability.

I think a software exploit is pretty unlikely, but there's a good chance a modchip one might work.
