I'm tired of people that read stuff like this and assume the journalist is trying to discredit the source. This is journalism 101. Do not explicitly claim anything to be true unless you personally can independently and reliably demonstrate it. Its just to cover your ass so you can't get sued.
If they wanted to give Israel better press, they very easily could have just not reported on this in the first place.
Some commenters like to point out that journalism practices support the narrative that the NYT is not reflecting - whether directly or indirectly - any particular point of view. This could not be independently confirmed. When reached for comment the entire corporate structure of the New York Times refused comment.
Unless they are quoting Israel in which case NYT will gladly make up lies and repeat any unverified allegation made by Israel without disclaimers going as far as putting it in their headlines.
Well next time you should post that, it would be much more scandalous.

nice delivery. i agree with the above poster, id rather see this numerous times than the post we're commenting on
