I guess my view is that because this was such a flagrant and public display of nazism - it's impossible for anyone to deny it with "oh I hadn't seen his anti-semetic and racist tweets so I didn't know" - there's no room for doubt now and anyone that attempts to excuse it is obviously a bad faith actor and can be dismissed outright.
If it was impossible to deny it they wouldn't call it an "odd looking" or "controversial" hand gesture. 🤡
