It's unclear what "small" means in this context, considering Microsoft's size and the various divisions and companies under its umbrella. When it laid off 1,900 employees in January 2024, the company noted it had 22,000 staff in its video game division.

I just cancelled my XBox Game Pass when it went up to $20 a month. I feel like millions more people would pay for it at $10, but I'm no businessman.

I canceled when I got a steam deck.

How do you like it? I may purchase one this year. How does it feel on a monitor?

I love it, best concept for gaming for me. I'm a busy dad, it's nice to be able to pick up and game for 5 minutes and then just put it back down .

I can while also game while the kids are watching TV or whatever.

I haven't used it on a monitor but I have connected it to my TV in the living room. It works great! Desktop mode has everything needed, and gaming feels just like any other console

I realised I could purchase a slightly older AAA game every month and have the game “forever”, rather than have to pay for Gamepass and worry about getting my money’s worth.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. The only online games I play are Apex Legends and Rocket League and they are free anyway. I'm thinking about playing through Red Dead 2 again.

I was one of the "got game pass, usually forget to use it" subscribers. I ended up canceling when games I was playing were no longer available when I did remember about it so I couldn't finish them anyways, plus the price went up.

Last thing I did was go through their games and add ones that looked interesting to my steam wishlist. And after I cancelled, when one of the games I had been playing went on sale, I realized another thing that I didn't like about it that I hadn't even known: they don't advertise what games use invasive drm or anti-cheat software like steam does.

Though the main driving factor was wanting to divorce myself from as much reliance on MS/Windows as possible.
