Jesus what the hell is going on in those comments over there.

[–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 93 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

triple parentheses

unironic use of the word cuck

conspiracy theory about Google being a fake company

Welp.

His comment section is pretty fucking wild.

I really hope Louis Rossmans's fan base is less toxic. The fact that he has been on Tim Pool probably imported a lot of weirdos.

[–] ImFresh3x@sh.itjust.works -1 points 2 years ago

I’m all for right to repair but that dude has always been a weirdo, imo

[–] onlinepersona@programming.dev 5 points 2 years ago (5 children)

"((( )))"? I thought that was a crowd saying something e.g "((( that's what she said )))". Or being a really fat dude. I remember :-))) being a smiley with a triple chin.

((( What does this mean to some people now? )))

I want to unlearn English now please

Confusing... that sounds positive. We should remember the atrocities committed against them. Funny how it was flipped to mean something bad.

IMO, it should be reclaimed. Just like "slut", "queer" and other words are being reclaimed in a positive sense.

Wat?

((( Google )))

Jews Google? Jews say Google? Google for Jews? Google by Jews? Google owns Jews? Google is owned by Jews? Google likes Jews?

How is that supposed to be interpreted?

[–] cashews_best_nut@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's a symptom of a Lisp programmer on meth.

[–] onlinepersona@programming.dev 6 points 2 years ago

Imagine being an alien and receiving a message from earth with LISP code. The last 3MB would just be brackets.

[–] r3df0x@7.62x54r.ru 11 points 2 years ago

((())) indicates that someone is allegedly Jewish. Sometimes they use )))((( for their own names to imply that they're surrounded by Jews.

I went to odysee once and saw the Babylon Bee advertised front page. Told me all I needed to know about the platform.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (6 children)

What's wrong with the Babylon Bee? Isn't that a site similar to The Onion?

Edit: lol downvoted for asking a genuine question?

[–] wildginger@lemmy.myserv.one 24 points 2 years ago

The bee claims to be satire to deflect criticism. Often it fails to satirize at all, and just says shit things with intent to claim "its a joke bro"

[–] drbluefall@toast.ooo 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Much of The Babylon Bee's content, while stated to be satirical, often misses the point of satire.

It doesn't work to defend existing power structures.

[–] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

If I remember correctly they’re owned by a conservative Christian company

[–] Devouring@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago

You went against the cult. How dare you!

[–] ExcursionInversion@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

So many alternatives get flooded with these crazy people

[–] interloper@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

What the hell indeed.

[–] adam_b@infosec.pub 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Personally, I always click on the controversial button to have a laugh, and 90℅ of the time I do.. Odysee is promising

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Personally, I prefer peertube, but odyssee had potential... before the nutters. Peertube has this issue, too, but being decentralization, it's more of finding an instance with less nut. Like soy, nuts are in everything.

[–] adam_b@infosec.pub 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

You see the problem ain't the nutters, the problem is the content creators synching their content and forgetting about it, and when they come back they see their comment section turned into a mess, they blame the platform, that blame was valid when Odysee moderation tools where none existent, but now they do - but people still don't use them -

You wanna know how I know ? It's because I can still see offensive words, which means the creator isn't censoring them

I was talking about the content creators that post solely on odysee specifically, as they tend to be as nut as the commenters (not always, of course). But you bring up a good point. There are two main problems with odysee...

How did you find the “care of” button instead of “%” symbol?
