Power demand is surging because of "AI".
The article says it's primarily increased cooling load since it was hot as shit in 2024, with data centers playing a smaller role. We also have EVs, heat pumps, and growth in the manufacturing sector. Also mostly ignored is the fact that we have physically more people here, mostly due to immigration. Like most issues, it's multifaceted. That being said, AI is bullshit and I hate it.
They’d have to. They can’t replace their writers and editors with AI if they admit it’s a terrible idea right now. NYTimes has been shit forever in general though.

AI is another order of magnitude more electrical usage than even the BTC bullshit.
lol holy shit I think the only company I would trust less with the responsibility of owning a nuclear reactor is boeing and I am not even sure on that one
