World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Funny how people are so quick to accept anything people say about what Israel does but then turn around and argue about the evidence from 10/7.
Yeah it’s completely unhinged that people are still going on about “beheaded babies” and “women being raped” when it turns out they were just more Israeli lies.
And the evidence says Netanyahu knew about the raid at least 4 hours before it happened. And a lot of the hostages and soldiers were killed by Israeli Apache helicopters under the Hannibal Directive.
There’s also the evidence that Palestinians treated hostages humanely, taking them out shopping, making them birthday cakes and so on.
Parroting propaganda.
The only claim that was exaggerated was the beheaded babies. People saw something, jumped to a conclusion, and the story blew up.
There was sexual violence on 10/7 and you can absolutely guarantee that hostages have been raped. And no, "a lot" of the hostages and soldiers weren't killed by IDF. A small number might have been.
LOL birthday cakes and shopping. So fucking brainwashed.
Source: trust me bro.
Israel does torture, rape, and kill Palestinians (including children). It's an Apartheid State.
Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Prisons
Palestinians are jailed without charge, forced into false confessions, routinely tortured, raped, denied medical attention, and some killed as a result. This includes hundreds of children.

Have you already forgotten that there was a literal video of Israeli soldiers gang raping prisoners?
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/israel-sexual-abuse-palestinian-prisoners-rcna165811
What evidence are you talking about, and how is it relevant to this story? Use your words, complete your half-baked thoughts.
There is no video of gang rape in that link.
Yeah I'm not going to try to find that for you. Here is more info if you want to go to the dark part of the Internet :
https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/sde-teiman-israeli-soldiers-under-arrest-raping-palestinian-prisoner
Clown. They're not going to show soldiers violently gang raping someone on fucking nbcnews.com you absolute dipshit.
Are you saying that the people in the article that say they've seen the video are lying?
Calling a poster an "absolute dipshit" must violate the rules, unless it's only people who don't conform to the Marxist leanings of this site that get punished.
I'm saying the anti-Zionist movement is FULL of propaganda. Perhaps you've heard of the term "Pallywood." Social media is littered with AI generated photos, staged videos, clipped and edited videos, whatever is necessary to make Israel look evil. The only video of a "gang rape" I ever saw was one that didn't actually show a rape at all, and there was a very sensible explanation for what was actually happening in the video. Is that the video we're talking about?
They were holding the soldiers involved in the rape for questioning, and right wing Israelis stormed the military bases in protest. This was international news that even Netanyahu weighed in on:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/israel-hamas-war-idf-palestinian-prisoner-alleged-rape-sde-teinman-abuse-protest/
Don't try to gaslight with AI and that other bullshit. They are absolutely torturing prisoners and murdering women and children every day. Do whatever mental gymnastics you need to do to justify your stance, but just remember that there are innocent people suffering.
(Also yeah I'm not feeding the troll anymore. Just think to yourself every once in a while "are we the baddies?")
Funny that I was about to post the literal opposite of your comment... I just knew there would be the "we cannot ever trust anything a Palestinian says about Israel, ever" people here.
How convenient for you. You don't even need to read the claims, because you know that they cannot possibly be true, right?
I didn't say that, I simply pointed out the double-standard.
Believe women...unless they're Israeli, right?
