Atheists are dreary and dogmatic. Look at the mad craic in the 2nd picture.

nothing more dogmatic than religion though.

paganism is not atheism.

There are lots of dogmatic things. And we're talking about non-belief-based religion in this case.

i tought religion was belief-based by definition?

No not at all.

It's largely about practice. Community. Art. States of consciousness. Good conduct.

Belief can be a fetter that holds you back, more often than not.

There is no scholarly definition of 'religion'.

You mentioned things that are not related to religion at all, that both religious and non-religious people do.

I agree belief holds you back, thats probably a central reason why most atheists are atheists.

Atheists' dogmatic commitment to their atheism often messes them up; I've seen it.

Belief is not related to religion, and is something both non-religious people (dogmatic politics, dogmatic personal belief) and religious (Muslim, atheist) people do.

Reject belief-based religions like Xtianity and atheism. Retrurn to ecstatic and noble practices.

As the Buddha said, "If you were not to adhere to this view — so pure, so bright — if you were to not to cherish it, not to treasure it, not to regard it as 'mine,' would you understand the Dhamma taught as analogous to a raft, for crossing over, not for holding on to?"

You mentioned things that are not related to religion at all

No I didn't lol

What? Atheism and agnosticism are defined as a lack of belief in a deity... Its pretty much the only real point to it.

Never heard of non-religious folk get messed up by religious dogma, watever that is supposed to mean.

I'm sorry but you are simply not making any sense.

I'm talking about the dogmatic kind of atheist. This kind. The reason they're so annoying is coz they cling to views and insist their views/beliefs are right.

Oh, there are actively anti-religious atheists or smug immature teenagers, I think you are talking about them. Thats not what atheism itself is. I don't know many people like that but you don't really have to be an atheist for it.

Other kinds of people get pushy or smug with other kinds of ideas for other types of reasons, including religious people. There could be a meme like this where you swap the word atheist for a lot of things and it would still be relevant.

Sometimes it can even be justified, or sometimes not, but Its not really dogma.
