you can disable tabs closing automatically or setting them as inactive in Firefox settings.

screenshot of tab options in Firefox for Android, showing options to switch between list and grid layout, an option to close tabs automatically after a day, a week, a month, or manually, and a toggle to set tabs as inactive if they haven't been viewed two weeks

it's currently in Beta. used to be available as a hidden toggle in Stable, but not anymore.

and I'm apparently a famous Tiktoker and Youtuber.

so... pay for hosting a website for an unspecified amount of time, until an unspecified goal ("Lemmy matures") is reached, just in case the admins, who have stated that they've (justifiably) lost interest in managing the instance, suddenly change their mind, and don't mind having to catch up first with whatever the current version of Lemmy will be at that point, with who-knows-what breaking changes introduced?

and yet it's been compressed to hell and back like it's from 2013

yeah, and it's crazy how conditioned you can get by consumerism. I bought the Fairphone 4 soon after its release, and the moment I got it, I pretty much stopped following any smartphone news (before that, I used to be a frequent /r/Android poster and commenter a few years ago, and I've always been up to date on the latest releases and features), as I was perfectly content with what I got, and knew that with the extended warranty I was set for the next 5 years.

but the very moment the 5 was announced and the 4 wasn't the Latest Bestest Thing, I started being tempted to upgrade. no particular reason to it, as the biggest change would be an OLED screen and that just isn't that big deal for me, except for the promise of a bigger newer number. I never upgraded and over three and a half years later, the 4 is still good enough for me, but something's telling me the announcement of the 6 will be tempting me again, haha. I'll probably try and wait for the 7, though.

it's an announcement saying that Interstellar now works with Piefed: https://interstellar.jwr.one/

the team's been doing a great job with the instance and I appreciate the hell out of them for that. it's sad to see it shut down, but I also respect that they recognise that admin job isn't doing them any good and leave before it causes more harm and burnout; there's so many people out there who don't seem to be capable of such insight.

my Piefed adventure was supposed to be temporary just to see what's what, but I guess I'm stuck here for good now, heh

edit: also, only a few of the many communities I'm subscribed to are on .ee, almost all of them are hosted somewhere else, so I can just continue posting my bland takes from another account as usual. Fediverse working as intended!

have you tried keyd? I only use it for a few very simple remaps, but it's got tons of nooks and crannies to lose yourself in.
