Yes, but I think Sailfish OS and Ubuntu Touch are Linux-based systems with an Android layer (I don't really know how it works, but it's something like Linux with Android firmware?) so they would work better than the PinePhone. I am interested in people's experiences, and I saw in a video that Android apps run pretty well on Sailfish OS.

Hi. I know the most privacy-oriented (and best-working) phone OS is GrapheneOS, but I was wondering about other, less well-known ones, such as VollaOS (modified Android), Sailfish OS or Ubuntu Touch. Are they private? Do they work? Can I run Android applications on them (VollaOS and SailfishOS) without too much effort? I like using Linux, but I rely on many Android apps, such as navigation, mobile banking, the Garmin app, and many others. Do you have any experience with these operating systems?

Ok, so the ISP can see that I'm connected to the Tor network? Using Tor over VPN just adds one more layer of privacy, right? Tor isn't illegal here; what I'm trying to achieve is anonymity on the internet.

Why is it not recommended to use a VPN over Tor? Doesn't that mean the ISP can't see you are connected to Tor?

Hello, I'm seeking advice.

I need help with a new setup. Currently, I have a Raspberry Pi 5 with OpenMediaVault (installed on microSD) + Portainer + Docker running from a USB HDD, but I'm not satisfied with this configuration - it looks messy and is a bit slow.

I'm considering buying an Odroid H4+ with 2 or 3 SSD disks to run NAS + Nextcloud (and possibly Home Assistant) on that server. What would be the best option for me? I like how TrueNAS operates, but it seems a bit too powerful for my needs. Should I:

  • Use TrueNAS Scale with Nextcloud and Home Assistant as apps on TrueNAS?
  • Use Proxmox with multiple VMs (NAS, Nextcloud, Home Assistant, ...)?
  • Use OpenMediaVault with the KVM plugin and run Nextcloud within OpenMediaVault?
  • Or consider something completely different?

I would like to have the OS on a small disk and every other service on a second large disk (or in RAID1).
