Putin will have grabbed more Ukraine and survived the debacle he started. Trump will have provided a pretext that Ukraine should stand down or else. If they stop fighting Trump will paint himself as the hero and then relax sanctions which is the other thing Putin desperately needs. Putin rebuilds to come back and finish the job later.
