Fascism is on the match. The problem is not that they are on the move. The problem is that many of us just join the march but caring about what we are doing ... or not doing.

And no I'm not calling for revolution.... I'm just calling out everyone that participates in corporate social media and wonder why they are encouraging the spreading of lies and propaganda

I agree but the problem is that there is a huge percentage of the population that use this dumb site as a way to collect and gather all their information about the world. The problem is not so much that fb changed, the problem is that so many people rely on it.

It had everything to do with human greed.

As long as there is the suggestion or possibility, no matter how remote that anyone of us can become enormously wealthy, we won't want to change the system.

I'm Canadian and a liberal left leaning politically. I have my complaints about the US, US government and US politicians, however I always appreciated President Jimmy Carter.

It's an historical event and one that doesn't happen often during our lifetimes.

I was wondering how many of you in the US and in the world are watching.

By age alone, he's already acquired 10% of the vote in whatever election he joins .... get him to commit a felony and he'll gain another 5% .... some sort of sexual misconduct 5% ... say he's Christian (even if he's not) another 5%

Or just don't vote and move along

Exactly, and it probably took several instances of this happening going back to 1950 before they finally decided to make that warning label.

And painted the whole room with a pretty green colored lead paint.

Data is always beautiful if you cherry pick the data you want.

This is like judging how beautiful someone is by only looking at their hands.

It feels shitty and I was doing the same thing all day. I had to resurrect my lemmy.world account just to get back online. It's made me realize that I should maintain both accounts for shut downs like this. And now I'm also having to do more in maintaining my Mastodon account too.

Weird to think what happens when you lose a site you visit on a regular basis. I can understand the whole instance going down but us users just get lost when things get turned off. There's no way to know what happened, why or when or if anything will return.

I had to resurrect my old lemmy.world account to figure out what happened. I guess we have to hang on to two or more unique instance accounts in case our main instance goes down.

Stay well guys and I totally appreciate the admins of lemmy.ca and all the work they do. I'll patiently wait and look forward to seeing it online again.
