Tbf, those are some big shoes to try to fill:-) (I mean, not like, literally... but you know what I mean!)

USA bias strikes again! :-P

Unfortunately it's only slated to last until the election results... though this is one time that I hope things do not go as planned!:-P

Not a terribly accurate portrayal... (cop was way too accurate, not involving bystanders, and actually bothered to clean up the mess!)

At the same time, his leaving was also a success story in itself. He had all the money he ever needed in life, he was at the top of his game except just was exhausted working that continual grind, and was feeling his age so unlike e.g. any member of Congress, decided to voluntarily relinquish his power in order to create room for new people to step up, while he went on to blaze entirely new pioneer territory outside of mainstream TV, which was quite a risk even for someone like him. Wow... what a class act! 😍

What could go wrong with creating a treasure trove of data that AI miners would do anything to get their hands on?

What I replied to though said this:

That’s not really a tag though, you’d have the same search result just searching for “school”, right?

So it seems relevant to me that the search results are not identical?

Beyond that, it would find many more instances if people started using it, ofc, but the manner in which people use it may still facilitate easier searching - e.g. instead of casually bantering around with "school", "college", "education", "edumacashiun", if you knew that a specific term was used like "#school", then you could still find it easier.

Anyway, I am not here to defend using hashtags - I have no skin in that game and truly don't care one way or another. I just did not want OP to feel attacked like we are a bunch of Karens asking to speak to the manager about their choice of language:-P. Lemmy has little enough content as it is - we want moar content creators, not to turn away people offering us free stuff to ~~distract us from the pain of existence~~ enjoy!?:-)

Having just tried it, no. There are many instances of the word "school", but I only saw a single one with "#school".

I often want to use the search to find things, but cannot due to the deluge of irrelevant crap. Also the terms seem broken in that while some work 100% of the time, others 100% of the time fail to function as stated - e.g. asking for "all" results from the last "top 6 hours" ago returns MANY comments from 10 months in the past, though no posts prior to 6 hours ago, so it functions only halfway i.e. it does not work at all if my aim was to find a particular thing.

So if OP wants to use hashtags, and they help, why try to restrict them? We are supposed to be the welcoming Fediverse here!!? :-)

[–] OpenStars@startrek.website 14 points 7 months ago (5 children)

While not automated, typing those terms into the search bar does function to retrieve posts with those hashtag terms. So OP is not confused - rather, they are taking us all #backtoschool:-).

While true that the timing is shit, the amount is nowhere close to "table scraps" - this seems like it will legit be helpful, maybe even enough to turn the tide in Ukraine?

Also, it's not like Congress fed its own and then waited months to feed the dog - rather, dinner for the entire family was delayed from the start of the fiscal year 2024 in October 1 until just a few weeks ago, involving the ousting of one Speaker of the House and almost doing so to the second as well. And now, this aid package for Ukraine may likewise finish the job of getting the Speaker kicked out, bc any time the government is "functional" is considered bad by some elements.

But the timing from passing the federal budget itself to passing this aid package is actually quite short. Yes it's half a year late, but it did eventually happen, and the amount of aid is large, so is a "success" by multiple metrics, and all the more so given the opposition. If we do end up having a civil war as people like MTG are calling for, this may well be the last aid package that the USA ever manages to pass in the final stages of its democracy.

So imho we should take the win and be happy - we may not get to celebrate Congress doing routine activities like "passing budgets" very often in the future, even six months late.

This does not go nearly far enough imho. The woman on the right needs to be literally enslaved, in bondage (but not the fun kind) while the woman in the red dress needs to be appreciated not just in passing but during every waking moment of every hour of every day, with every thought, hope, wish, dream, prayer, and most importantly action dedicated to her eternal happiness, but more importantly her happiness right the fuck NOW in the next quarter.

Also it's not just the USA but the entire Western world... and quite frankly the entire non-Western one too just with Profit substituted with Power.

But the REALLY fucked up part is that literally nobody that I have ever met IRL has ever acted that way, though conversely who doesn't have that culture going on at their workplace? It's a HIGHLY skewed distribution where the "job creators" act that way, and not even like 99% of them but only the billionaire and wannabe class, and bullies, whereas everyone else seems to remember the human... except, for whatever odd reason, when it comes time to vote.:-(
