I had to check and it seems you are right. Next vote of EU Commission president would normally be in 2029, so she would have to go two years early.

Nicely written, though! I like it! :-)

Short reminder that the German president is not comparable to the usual role of a president in other countries, e.g. the U.S.
It is by far not so powerful and has (apart from some key functions during the legislative process) mainly representative tasks.

This is a fantastic read that seems to come straight out of a Dirk Gently novel... But I am completely confused and have the feeling that I am missing some crucial information?

I see, so probably based on the resemblance to "Kathy Deeds"... Wow, that is not even decent dad humour level...

I would recommend "The mote in God's eye".
Fantastic premise with one of the most convincing and fascinating alien races (don't look it up, there are some plot-twists!) as well as some action parts and space battles. AI free and the military is kind of a quaint feudalistic kind of style.

Came here to recommend that, but then realized that AIs often play major roles in this books...
So while definitely one of the greatest space opera books series, it does not quite fit OPs preference.

Ääääh... "Künstlich"?
Kreationist oder Erich-von-Däniken-Ventilator?

Interesting insect, never heard of it before!
Although I am slightly sorry as I can't stop giggling at the moment since I realized how silly all the references to feet sound in this description. 🤭
What I don't understand is the text in the speech bubble... Is that some kind of insider joke? Seems not to be a valid information...

Reminds me of the first scientific attempts trying to reconstruct fossilized bones to plausible shapes:

Yeah, Duolingo has been resting a bit too much on its past accomplishments and still high popularity lately.
This feature is basically exactly what I would have expected them to offer me by now in return for the money I pay them each month.
Unfortunately Google is not an alternative for me, but I already have switched some of my learning to LLM chats elsewhere.
I am curious if Duolingo will be able to keep up again with the development in the long run...

Hello everyone! Is this the experiment here? Has it started yet? Can I bring my own drinks?
