This meme made me gasp loud enough that my girlfriend was worried something was wrong.

Then I had to explain that I'm 41 years old and was just shocked by a dinosaur fact.

This comment is for a very niche audience but Lieutenant Malcolm Reed would enjoy this meme and also the pineapple.

This is the answer. The moon is passing through phases as it orbits and isn't perfectly aligned so there will always be shading and color variations.

I'm posting this video because they animate the different types of eclipse and also explain why it's red. So now it's just understanding that everyone's view is always "off to the side" so there is a gradient of color and brightness.

I wasn't a super active website user, and just followed in YouTube but after I watched the video, I did two things.

First, I tested my backup/restore on my truenas.

Second, I joined the patreon and probably stick around for a bit. Everything good seems to ask me for money, and it's exhausting but at the same time it's $36 a year and I just won't buy something I don't really need at Costco this month and it's covered.

I've had two failed harddrives in the last month. Not sure if bad batch or what. Thankfully the order these were on only were the two drives so may not see more. They are under warranty but it's still a pain!

Otherwise I'm enjoying Mealie lately for my recipes. Kinda nice having them all in one place but accessible by anyone in the house.

I don't have experience with any readers until recently. Did some research and went with. Kobo colour. It has met expectations and I'm using it with no issue.

I wanted physical buttons.

I didn't want an Amazon device.

Stadia was the last straw for me. I kept my pixel phone but I replaced and ripped so much Google out of my life.

I replaced my nest cameras, and my Google wifi router. I ditched my Google home speakers and displays. Migrated everything from gmail except for Google related garbage. Unsubscribed from Google one. And no more books Google play. No movies or TV's on Google play either.

And lastly I use duck duck go as my primary search.

A lot of time and money but my spite knows no bounds apparently.

I agree the end of a series can feel a little draining as the stories conclude. I get that way with books too.

Lots of rewatches of the trek series, and I do skip ones that are boring to me, sometimes I just follow main story arc with ent and voy, but there are some really good bottle episodes that I miss that way.

If it feels like work to watch an episode, then I skip it. Sometimes it's the topic, or my mood, or life.

Enjoy tng again!

My server is exactly as I need. Basically 1 year old now. This year I really want to do vlans to control the network more than an off the shelf router. I work in tech and still am struggling because all I know is meraki bullshit and that's not priced for the typical home user.

I'll need a few AP's and a switch and firewall. I don't know what to get or what to buy and each research session ends with more options than I started with. Anyway that's my goal. I'll get there eventually.

I get that it's always been like that, it just shouldn't be. Whether you believe it's okay or not is totally an opinion and it's fine. I've used sync alone for as long as it's been around basically.

Just switched recently to Thunder. It's a bit slower but has a lot of options. Its working fine... And this is from a person who has been many times over the years and is currently paying for sync.

Sync is more reddit than reddit was. And is my Lemmy experience up until a few days ago.

I'm sure it'll be fun and I'm always glad to have more trek.

Two things concern me, first every person we've met previously from section 31 has been an asshole. Intentional writing to make them them an organization working against the ideals of the federation. Will that make it harder for me to like the characters or their missions? I am unsure if I want to relate better to them.

The second is that universe ending stuff has little emotional impact on me, it's unimaginable to me especially with the CGI required to visualize it. Episodes always hits me harder when it's a planet, a species, a special person or some mystery to be discovered.
