The cuteness of the creature being a factor is something I absolutely understand. Although I'm entirely in love with arthropods and reptiles and all those creepy crawlers, I would still feel worse about the bunny.

It's an instinctual thing, as mammals we're genetically programmed to love baby mammals and protect them. We usually empathize more with them and some of us even tremble with good feelings when watching or touching them. It is inherently rewarding to pet them and to show them kindness. So it's no wonder we can easily crush something like a roach or a fish. It's harder with chicks and even harder with rats or baby kangaroos since they check more and more of the boxes activating that instinct.

Instincts just that though, we are completely able to ignore it, desensitize or rationalize. Luckily we're (mostly) ruled by our minds and not our instincts.

He get's two more rounds of voting, and will likely be elected in the third round. Otherwise the CDU/CSU will have to forward another candidate, since the election was for the party, not the candidate, they remain the strongest party and could propose anyone to be elected chancellor. But this might crash out the proposed coalition government if they think that the SPD cannot keep its promise to vote for him.

And the inevitable decline of neoliberal politics. People have been taught and indoctrinated by the media, that the right is economically proficcient but hindered by the left. And now they double down on neoliberal bullshit politics because not going hard enough didn't help them and going more left is generally presented as an economically worse choice.

The sad truth is: Going more left would leave "the economy" (the stocks / rich peoples wallets) worse of but help the real economy by giving expendable income to people who right now, cannot spend what they don't have.

An answer like this is

a) not a yes or no, and thus usually not allowed in such dilemmas. That's also why "I just tap it lightly on the head" is not a real answer. There is no valid "outside the box" answer for dilemmas. Your valid answer seems to be "no", since you would not kill that animal, the rest of your answer is just ... unimportant to the question asked.

b) disregarding that you're going to jail for murder and aggravated robbery. You have just taken your own life (to jail)

I do eat meat, yes.

Edit: Meaning I'm not going to pretend that an offer like that would not sway me. I'll be unhappy about it, cry and have a bad conscience for a very long time until I successfully rationalize it. But seeing as I do eat meat, I feel it would be a lie to pretend that I'm not capable of rationalizing killing an animal for my own indulgence. And uncoupling myself and everyone I love from the horrors of capitalism by simply elevating them above... that's quite a strong incentive. I could even spend a billion dollars on environmental causes, saving millions of bunnies and still have enough left to make everyone I love a multi-millionaire.

I don't actually know where my price is... would I do it for 1000 Euros? No, definitely not. For a million? Likely yes... somewhere between those numbers is the price for my conscience. I hope I never find out where exactly, it's a ghastly thing to know about oneself.

It's just one more point of evidence

Did not call you a bot, but I have read your comments before and flagged your username as someone who appears left-aligned, but unreasonable, pro russian and anti-NATO when it comes to the russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

This is, I presume also the main point in your opposition to the german Greens, a party very much aligned with a free Ukraine and opposed to russian imperial aggression.

Because from my point of view, it looks like in your worldview everything western, everything touched by the US, everything that opposed the eastern block in any way is tainted by imerialism. Your comments lack any evidence of nuance or understanding that both the west and the east were and are are ruled by horrible people and good people trying their best. I'm forced to fucking both-sides-ism upon reading your history, because your radical positions lack so much dearly needed nuance.

First the election and now this, Canada can't stop winning

Hmm, honestly, I feel like that isn't necessarily the case and often connected to the audience, especially if such a comment is offtopic.

Personally I have felt that on Lemmy effort and care are very much appreciated. But there is a breaking point in regards to the insightfulness and the length of the comment. Like there needs to be at least X amount of new and interestimg information per paragraph.

Upvoting the selection of truly impactful comic books. Guess my collection is missing Saga. Thank you for that.
