Very true. I mean, people think rising sea levels just means losing beach front property, and they ignore the cataclysmic chain reaction of mass fish die off, acidification, and severe weather. Not to mention the increasing temperatures are allowing for pathogens - in particularly fungi to adapt to higher average temperatures, which means humans (and other mammals) won't be able to use fevers to fight them off. We'll continue to see more novel diseases, pandemics, etc. It's for the best anyway. The sooner the earth can get rid of us, the sooner it can return to equilibrium.

I'm pushing 50 and I tend to think that there's maybe one or two generations left to live before society collapses due to this shit. The copium being taken by some people on where we're at is pretty nuts, not to mention the outlandish solutions people are proposing like putting reflective particles into the atmosphere to 'dim the sun', rather than just do the things scientists have been shouting for decades. I've done my part (which amounts to measurably nothing). But as you said, it's over kids. We're at the part of a roller coaster ride where the first couple cars have started down that hill and there's no way to stop the acceleration of everything else, only unlike the roller coaster, the bottom is the end of the ride.
These specifically are invasive species to these states and negatively impact the ecosystem. It won't affect native species.
Edit to add that these mosquitos are the carriers of yellow and dengue fever.
The funny thing is this article talks about kids. My Mom is in her 70s and I maintain her phone and she currently uses a pixel 6, so it's the latest os of course. Whenever I see her, I have to declutter her notifications. They're constant. Apps and websites have gotten more noisy and aggressive in prompting users to enable notifications or sending constant push crap and I don't think most people know how to disable them while retaining what they're actually wanting to get.
You can also pay for it and get a refund, which is what I did. It isn't anywhere close to being finished.
Apple is winning the communications game and I'm afraid I'll wind up switching once they go usb c. I'm sick and tired of the iMessage walled garden when messaging nearly everyone I know, and also tried of the hit or miss debacle of rcs. I will miss the customization freedom (currently using Niagara launcher and it's super unique ux), but Android phones have deleted all of the other benefits that separated them from iPhones, like expandable storage, ir blasters, headphone jacks, etc. I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I'm sick of waiting for this all to be worked out. Before anyone says to use signal or Whatsapp, etc, it just isn't a standard here in the US. Folks will never switch off iMessage.
Point of note - it's just 'Ukraine', not the Ukraine. 'The Ukraine' is a label used by those who see the nation as a region part of Russia. Small, but important thing I had to change when referring to it as well.
