Welding fumes are no joke, without the proper protection, it will take years off your life.
Looks at meme, grt a little chuckle at the joke.
Reads Buzz Killingtons first comment, gets sad again.
You just need to learn to stop worrying and agree with their username.
As others are sure to point out: welding bad for health.
UV radiation that will give you a near-instant sunburn. Combined with IR radiation that will literally burn your retinas if you don't protect them properly.
Then theres the fact that you're dealing with upwards of 1200ยฐC/2200ยฐF molten steel. And depending on your process you also have argon/CO2 gas leaks to worry about. That or the flux fumes or vaporized oxides and various metals will get you.
But welding is also fun as shit, and surprisingly accessible as long as you're not doing structural stuff without proper training.
I did welding for about 4 years and I actually kind of miss it. I've thought about just getting a welding setup to do it for funsies, but I don't know that I really have anything that I could even weld with it apart from random junk, plus I really don't think I have the space for it and would be afraid of catching my house on fire
