Why doesnt anybody make a custom rom thats basically android just with a few changes reverted to make it more unix/linux like? I think it would be cool and probably even usefull.

I used for a long time LineageOs, is not necessarily what you are asking for but it one of the best options out there.
Even termux with all its limitations is doing pretty great imagine if it was as powerful as terminal app on *nix
Nice, I haven't tried that termux widget yet. Here's a Lemmy community just for android home screens if you're interested: !c/android_homescreens@lemmy.ml
awesome! wallpaper?
Sweet. What's the MOTD / quote app (widget?) ?
I thought lawnchair had been abandoned
It still is sadly. I think its still the best fullyFOSS one out there. At least for me.
Yet it talks about lawnchair 14 on github
Yes but you have to compile it yourself
No need to compile yourself, Lawnchair is NOT dead.
Join their telegram group, they share Dev builds there. Or, you can install Gooolers builds from GitHub: https://github.com/Goooler/LawnchairRelease
Personally I use Gooolers.
Im glad to be wrong. Thank you.
Edit: Some features need polishing and some need to be added. But overall is a great improvement really.
Thank you installed
That's excellent! Thanks!
+1
Lawnchair isn't abandoned. Here's the latest debug apk. https://github.com/LawnchairLauncher/lawnchair/actions/runs/8399927018 u need to be logged in.
fuck yeah Arcticons! I always use them with a black background and never realized how well they work over photos
Welp, now I'm gonna have that song stuck in my head! At least it's a song I really like :)
I love this setup! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Super cool. What command / package are you using on Termux to generate that info in the widget?
Looks like neofetch!
Its neofetch but called from a app that let you call termux from a small window. The app is Termux:Float, it is in the description.
Sweet! Thank you!
Thank you!
