Guild Wars Reforged was announced today by ArenaNet to arrive on December 3, and it will be Steam Deck Verified and optimised for Valve's handheld.

From the announcement: "We believe that even with all the advancements and innovations of the last two decades, Guild Wars has a lot to offer: an enchanted world of limitless adventure, a deep and flexible skill-based combat system, PvE and PvP challenges of all types, and more. Guild Wars Reforged begins with a series of updates to Guild Wars that will be completely free to existing players and make it easier than ever for new players to experience it all firsthand."

Guild Wars 1 has a very interesting team based PvP with a deck of skills among hundreds you have to pick beforehand, it generated a lot of team creativity, metas, counter metas, updates breakings metas and generating news ones etc. It's in my opinion way more interesting than the generic 5v5 with fixed skills per character that has dominated skill based PvP games since then (including League of Legends and Guild Wars 2, at least on release), probably because it's more accessible for the mass.

I got Guild Wars running on deck a while ago now just to see if I could but it wasn't super playable due to things like text size. Looking forward to this update, making a new character and giving it a go to see how the experience has changed!

I could deal with the text size, but the controller mapping was a pain.
