"Few creatures of the night have captured our imagination like vampires.
What explains our enduring fascination with vampires? Is it the overtones of sexual lust, power, control? Or is it a fascination with the immortality of the undead?"

Feel free to post any vampire-related content here. I'll be posting various vampire media I enjoy just as a way of kickstarting this community but don't let that stop you from posting something else. I just wanted a place to discuss vampire movies, books, games, etc.

I started watching Count Dracula (1970) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065569/ - on tubi, however halfway thru I had to go do something and by the time I got back, tubi had enshittified further, such that I had to sign in if I wanted to watch more than the first 15 minutes.

That's too bad, it was pretty good so far. It had Christopher Lee (best known for playing Saruman and Count Dooku) as Dracula. Klaus Kinski, who was in one of my fave movies Aguirre the Wrath of God, was Renfield. It looked like they'd gotten rid of Lord Goddaming bc the american guy (who was no longer american?) was engaged to Lucy. But other than that it seemed fairly faithful to the book.

But that just reminds me again that there's no more Dracula Readthrough here on !vampires@lemmy.zip! Maybe I'll have start reading physical media again?!?!!

Definitely want to do more bookclubs at some point, but I 100% need a break from it first!

Was thinking we could do a movie club. Go through historical Dracula films and discuss. Probably at a nice relaxed pace, something like 1 movie per month. Thoughts?
