Con is my irl dump stat… along with str, dex, wis, and cha.

Int builds for life!

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Same but also INT and hidden luck stat

DND stats are weird. Only con gets more impactful as you level. Imagine if strength was +damage and carry per level. 18 strength at first level is +3 damage, but fourth level is +12. That might be the path to reinventing Pathfinder, though.

I'll also say, playing games that don't have the six stats, or even character attributes at all was really refreshing. Just skills worked fine.

Imagine if strength was +damage and carry per level.

With extra attack it is.

Fate is the one that comes to mind. Just skills. Your big brawler dude might be like

.

  • Fight: 4
  • Provoke, Rapport: 3
  • Will, Athletics, Notice: 2

.

  • High Concept: King of the Ring Fighter
  • Trouble: Always a Show Off

.

  • Stunts and backgrounds: not going to make them up now but they add more depth

You don't need to know this guy has exactly 8 or 10 intelligence, or whatever.

Ah, FATE - it's F.U.D.G.E. with extra icing!

[–] UNY0N@lemmy.wtf 32 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I don't need CON if I nuke them from orbit.

[–] msage@programming.dev 1 points 6 days ago

EXPLOOOOOSION!!!

[–] DaMonsterKnees@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

It is, the Only way, to be sure.

[–] bitcrafter@programming.dev 2 points 1 week ago

You can not push a button to launch a nuke if they disable your hand!

Raistlin has a great Con score, it's just on Caramon's character sheet.

If you can't make your own saves, make sure you keep a big musclehead around to make them for you.

[–] Susaga@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's honestly a great way of thinking about it. My character can open any lock, charm any NPC, withstand any attack and deal incredible amounts of damage, just by asking a buddy to do it for them. Friendship is OP.

[–] AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

... The real OPness was the friends we made along the way?

[–] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The friends you met in the tavern in session zero

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I read this as Rincewind like from discworld, and I was going to say he had a great con score. Lots of cardio.

Yeah Rincewind's dump stat was wisdom.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I approve.

<check my username>

Oh hey! I had not gotten the connection until I googled it now.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Since when has con ever been a dump stat?

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It can be if you're not a coward!

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Sure but this comic is treating it like it's charisma or something.

When I am a glass cannon Wizard or Sorcerer. Concentration is only for spells with continued duration. Not needed for FIREBALL.
