General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I'm sure this would be very much appreciated, but on the grand scheme of things, shouldn't our government have far more pressing things to concern itself with right now?

I hate to say it but maybe Kier should learn from the headlights and try dazzling us with his performance.

The government nationalized train companies.

The government is pushing forward a new workers rights bill

https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3737

I feel they are not communicating enough about what they are doing.

Yeah the communication has been terrible.

Kinda hard to communicate well when 90% of the media is owned by shitsacks who want to see even this center-right version of Labour to fail...

The Renters Rights Bill just went through and became the Renters Rights Act, too

They have actually done some decent shit, but they're doing an awful job of getting the word out 😬

Do you think the government is just 5 people or something?

The government is vast, with many people involved in many different aspects of life.

Maybe they could try being less shit on the stuff that really matters then. Just a thought.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 5 days ago

They keep culling their own staff, so it definitely feels like it's just 5 people

You always want a few plates spinning. If we only ever put effort into the highest priority things then we'd be stuck in even more of a rut.
