Although the bill still requires several rounds of approval to become law, its preliminary passage has embarrassed Benjamin Netanyahu, who had earlier urged lawmakers to delay its presentation during US vice-president JD Vance’s visit – an effort to preserve the fragile Gaza ceasefire. Washington has repeatedly said that any annexation of the West Bank would cross a red line.

“I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank,” Donald Trump told reporters at the White House in September. “It’s not going to happen.”

“I think the president’s made clear that’s not something we can be supportive of right now,” Rubio said of annexation as he boarded his plane for a visit to Israel.

Oh, Marco. You're just going to do whatever Bibi tells you to do or Mossad releases the videos of you fucking those young boys. Quit your posturing.

[–] Grabthar@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Now you see why AI everywhere is so important. Anyone could have made that video!

Considering what a joke Trump's ceasefire has been, I expect something even flimsier like this to be even more of a joke.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

You mean it’s not legally binding when Marco Rubio says “tch-tch-tch… now don’t you do that.”

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 12 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The intention wad never a ceasefire

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 10 points 10 hours ago

I agree. That was the point. It's theater. And Palestinians will continue to suffer in their own homes as my people have.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

I can hear Netanyahu laugthing about Rubios' words. It has always be the plan to get rid of the Palestinian people. The Hamas attack just provided a welcomed excuse to depopulate Gaza. They won't stop just because of American politicians' complaints.

At some point, they're going to have to acknowledge that Israel so badly wants both Gaza and the West Bank. They've always wanted it. They don't give a shit about the Palestinians living there, and they never have. This is their version of manifest destiny. At some point, there will have to be a public acknowledgement that this administration knows this. They're trying to walk an impossible line of not saying this out loud and yet still moving in this direction as if Palestinians won't notice. As if this isn't the reason Hamas exists!

I thought they wanted the entire area to be isreal. Wasn't that what Trump was promoting a few weeks ago?

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 10 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

That was a few weeks ago. He's... I don't know, looked at a picture of a picture of a palm tree since then? Who knows what his "policy" will be from day to day? Hell, hour to hour!

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 4 points 9 hours ago

To enrich himself and his legion of sycophantic industry leaders, random rich people, and whatever criminal influencers, at the expense of the American people and the planet. That will be his day to day "policy".

It is so fucked, we are so fucked, there is no coming back from this even if we did. We won't be able to undo the harm that is being wreaked upon the nation and the world, and we all know this shit is just getting started.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 1 points 10 hours ago

This is very true

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Rubio explicitly said that it's not the time yet

I think the president’s made clear that’s not something we can be supportive of right now

So yes saying yet is accurate

US does whatever Israel wants.

Israel ignores whatever US wants.

If anyone is wondering who's the puppet.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

US always loses control of their pit bulls.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

The United Snakes is just acting. It could stop Isrsel if it want to but prefer not to

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Sure they could stop them now, but eventually they’ll lose control

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

They can never lose control, the billions that israel use comes from the USA

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Only way they’d stop is if leadership changes. Zionists will keep being zionists even without billions.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Without the billions and with heavy sanctions Israel economy would completely tank. The chance of the leadership to abandon Zionism is 0

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Point is they’ll keep being zionists even if they’re broke

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Point is even when they keep being zionists israel can't maintain occupation forever without the USA and western countries support

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Those Jewish settlers don’t need billions

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

The settlers can't defend themselves without Israel they are the biggedt cowards, israel can't keep maintaining occupation and maintsin settlements without the West support

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 0 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

The US has actively supported all of this shit for the better part of a century. Frankly, yesterday, I felt like, shit maybe I shouldn't feel so bad about all of this, because this is going to be the end of the American hegemony. Like, at least that's the silver lining, we're finally going to be free of America's global military thumb.

But then I remember, if America falls, the world is full of hyenas and jackals and lions that are already nibbling at the ankles, and we'll see a collapse into war and bloodshed when that one jenga piece that held the tower together is removed.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 1 points 5 hours ago

Bottom line is, best case scenario- we're completely fucked.

[–] Sumocat@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Yes, annexation is not something the White House can support right now… but definitely will support when plans for Trump West Bank Resort are announced.
