Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also xcancle.org (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

I saw people on reddit discussing this, and most were in support of the worker, saying shoplifters deserve it. There hasn't even been any evidence produced that she was shoplifting. And what kind of minimum wage employee cares about guarding a supermarket's produce so much?

EDIT: The police have released a statement saying there was no evidence she was even shoplifting.

The kind who couldn't pass the aptitude test to become a cop, and whose absolute peak of perceived personal power comes from working in a grocery store chain.

As a person who has shoplifted in the past many a time you have no idea how so many wage slaves take guarding their billionaire overlord's inventory so zealously, it's seriously insane. It's like you're personally ripping them off and not a shitty store that gives zero fucks about their lives.

In my experience just from working in a walmart in the middle of nowhere ohio, it's usually people well into their 50/60s+ (old people), and the reason why they're overzealous is that they hate watching people steal when they've worked hard just to get where they're at.

Younger people I've found to while have some brainworms about shoplifting, are pretty open to hearing from me that it's a drop in the bucket to corporate finances.

“Nothing was reported stolen and no arrests have been made.

“Enquiries continue. If you have any information that could help police please contact 101 quoting CAD 1378/15OCT.”

"We have no evidence of the customer shoplifting and we have photographic evidence and multiple eyewitnesses for the assault.

Please call this number if you can provide evidence of the shoplifting and we'll make an arrest"

Armed Folks will arrive at the supermarket in the shortest time possible using their special wee-woo-rights if somebody accuses you of shoplifting 20 pence, but if your employer withholds your paycheck, that's a civil matter not worthy of armed people in record response times!

somebody posted a great quality "what year is it?" gif from The Fisher King here once and I wish I had saved it because all the ones I can find are kinda shitty in comparison

hope the shopmarket worker is immured in a distant mountain prison for being such a class traitor

I must protect corporate profits!

I have little faith of any restitution, but I hope she sues not only the worker but Iceland into oblivion (or at least a truly massive settlement).

i'd be like one of these feelgoodz stories. "Poor mum forced to steal gets whipped. Win settlements, not set for life. Whippers becomes homeless"
