[–] beejboytyson@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I remember when he did that Black Mirror interactive movie thing, and there was that really weird backlash about him for not being conventionally attractive?

Anyone else remember that, or was that just a fever dream that I had?

People are so fucking weird.

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yep, he played a weird nerd in Bandersnatch and people were mad he wasn't phuckkable.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

What? I remember a lot of people being impressed how he different he looked in Bandersnatch compared to We're the Millers, in a positive way?

Maybe just different crowds

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was probably in a much more toxic space on the internet, at the time.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 23 hours ago

Fair. I was on reddit but I don't think I had any really toxic subs subscribed.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 day ago

"Popular" isn't one thing, there's like thousands of groups that all come up with what's popular to them. Thats the great thing about the internet though, you can always find a group you fit in if you dont like another one.

Ive also never heard a bad word about this actor in regards to his looks. I didnt think he was unattractive in bandersnatch either.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah people were like legit harassing him. Really fucking weird.

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I guess that's the same reason that the Dahmer show did so well: they made their bleach blond weirdo kinda good looking.

That, and the general cultural impulse to find serial killers... hot?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah but wasn't Dahmer known for being an attractive, charming dude?

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think that was Ted Bundy. Dahmer was more of an outcast, IIRC.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 day ago

Oh yeah you're prob right.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 day ago

Bandersnatch.

That was amazing and Will Poulter was amazing in it.

[–] Uriel_Copy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I remember a few years earlier than that he was featured in 'punchable faces' posts. I'm happy for the guy

[–] Apeman42@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Did y'all not see him all gold and fine in Guardians of the Galaxy?

Anyway, even in We're the Millers he was kinda dorky cute.

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

In Guardians Of The Galaxy Adam Warlock is like a flying Austin Powers meme

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh I thought he was disgusting in Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything being the same gold color was extremely off putting and my autism did not fuckin appreciate that. But I also more or less require a dude to be hairy for me to be interested and he just wasn't. Even if its just a lil bit of scruffy facial hair. If no facial hair then gotta be hairy elsewhere. Then there's the fact that my personal tastes preclude longer hair styles so I wasn't really interested for that reason. He might as well have been a Ken doll in that movie as far as my gay ass was concerned. But this meme? Legit? omnomnomnomnomsnac

[–] Apeman42@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ha, see I have the complete opposite taste. A bit of pit hair and bush is all fine, maybe a bit of a goatee, but otherwise I like mostly smooth dudes. And yet I like hairy women... I haven't unpacked that yet.

Also any fantasy skin/hair colors puts my needle straight into overdrive, so Adam Warlock is bonus points for me.

I think we can all firmly (lol) agree that he's a snack in this pic tho.

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 days ago

And yet I like hairy women… I haven’t unpacked that yet.

by Apeman42

Maybe you're just looking for one of your own kind? Sidenote, the phrasing of I like hairy women I haven't unpacked that yet had me laughing for a solid minute straight.

Fantasy skin/hair colors I'm also with you on but it's usually green for me. My DM is aware of this and recently dropped in a sexy as fuck, hairy half-orc with short hair who had a strength and con score to rival my barbarians (that were at fuckin 21 and 20 as it is) and I don't know if I want to propose to Gar or my DM.

[–] selkiesidhe@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Good god! And here I thought he was handsome when I first heard he got cast as Adam Warlock. He had a glow up AGAIN???

Is that man wine???

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Will Poulter, just in case anyone else was wondering.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Hes been in black mirror a few times, really liked him from that.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I keep forgetting his name but every time I think of him, I search for "the actor with the eyebrows" and my search engine knows exactly who I'm talking about.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

"Eyebrow kid" also works

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Son of Rambo! God I’ve not seen that in ages

[–] djdarren@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago

He is absolutely FINE in The Bear.

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What some facial hair, a tan, and styleable hair can do

[–] Khrux@ttrpg.network 7 points 1 day ago

Yeah, he looked like he did on the left through the entire 2010s without changing appearance much, from Narnia 3 to Midsommar. This is absolutely styling above just growing up.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 days ago
[–] Delphia@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not to mention almost outdoing Jeremy Allen White in the Sexy Chef dept in The Bear.

[–] three@lemmy.zip -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

almost

Jeremy is not sexy; bug-eyed little freak.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

The one in the right looks like the offspring of David beckham and Liam hemsworth

[–] Fleur_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He looks pretty similar between these ngl

[–] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What? Both of them are the same guy?

[–] Fleur_@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The one without the beard and the one with the beard on the left are even making the same expression.

Im terrible at facial recognition.

[–] dumbass@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago
[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes but that's unrelated

[–] Pulptastic@midwest.social 0 points 2 days ago

Nope, still weird looking.
