Iran is a country with remarkably smart people.

But it's not the smart people who are in charge. It's the dumb ones.

About 40% of the Iranian population is dumb as a fucking rock 🪨. They are absolutely TERRIFIED of women who don't wear a veil. They have spent billions on militias slaughtering Syrians. They think old Mullahs are the most pure humans. They hate homosexuals. They hate atheists. They banned dog walking (yeah really).

And it's these 40% idiots who are ruling the country.

Never let religious people in charge of a major country. It can only end badly.

(This is exactly what americans are doing right now by the way. The super religious idiots from the Southern States won power with Donald Trump. Now he is slashing science budgets to please them)

Iran is a country with remarkably smart people.

It always has been. Look at the Islamic golden age for example - so many of the great artists and polymaths were Persian. They have such an incredibly rich culture with a VERY long history, easily up there with China who I'd say is their only real competition in that regard.

Well, there's also India, potentially Greece or Rome (well, Rome did kind of steal Greek culture, but still). Yeah, the Arab world has always had some of the biggest breakthroughs in the world. Shame that all a lot of people kow about Muslims (well, in the US, and it seems in England), is that Muslims did 9/11, hijabs, Muslims are misogynistic, and that their countries have oil. Man, if more people just learned the basic history of the world and the country that they live in, I truly think that half of our current problems would've never happened. The Mughal Empire alone, just so many advancements, and even a little bit of religious tolerance. I like history :)

I feel like India is closer to being on China's level than Iran.

I think that they might've meant the entirety of the Arab world. The borders and countries that exist have changed quite a bit over the millennia.

Does... does India belong in "the Arab world"? Because I don't think...

I mean, certainly not nowadays. I meant that someone else might be grouping what is now Iran, with the rest of the Muslim world. If that makes any sense.

Agreed. It seems like Saudi Arabia and Iran are really trying to fulfill the negative stereotypes of the middle east. I suppose that they are competing against each other, so I suppose that makes sense. Reminds me a bit of the Cold War.
