Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

doomer yeah it feels like my vacations just exist to give me enough time to heal from my body's slow deterioration under the normal workflow. Only to immediately find myself exhausted and sore within a couple weeks.

I've been doing that for the entire year just to recover from the burnout of a failed project.

And buddy, my time off isn't even paid. de-pain-threshold

I guess what's surprising me is that I never even considered using it for anything else

That sounds awesome, I wish I had any PTO or vacation.

Is this a sign of a healthy society?

I never managed to bank any leave/pto while I was working fulltime because every time i had a single day I'd crash out and call in sick

Remember when Sanders was calling for the almighty 36 hour work week and libs were celebrating him for it? Lol

i work 3 days a week over two jobs and its almost more than i can manage

This me when I get scheduled for six day weeks or being asked to come in an hour before my start time

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

My favorite is being scheduled for a "4 day week" followed by a "3 day week" so you're actually working a 7 day work week but not getting overtime yea

[–] Mugenhagen@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

This sounds illegal, but knowing this piece of shit country, I wouldn't be surprised if your state allows this (assuming you live in the US)

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yeah I'm in a part of the US where there are basically no employment laws at all. Employers don't even legally have to give me any breaks, ever.

[–] Mugenhagen@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

I'm stuck in a similar state myself, yet I'm the entitled one for refusing to let these people continually fuck me over.

Right to work! (With no breaks)

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Oh that's insidious.

[–] hedd616@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What's PTO again? Google saying it's reflux meds. Realy?

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Paid time off. We usually one get a few sick days of any, so personal days dip into our pool of paid leave.

[–] hedd616@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Oh, ok. Thanks! US labour system is alien to me.

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago

[–] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yea I’m not feeling guilty for this. I do it frequently. Sometimes I just want to sleep in when no one is gonna bother me
