I'm using Google's but I don't really like it.

EDIT: is there anything that can sync with a linux podcast app (desktop)?

Antennapod, hands down. It's the best podcast app I've ever used, period. Even proprietary options don't come close.

Thank you for this recommendation!

And...! You can sync multiple devices across NextCloud! Tablet and phone? Synced!

Does their gpodder sync thing work again yet? That's the main reason I tried it out before, but it was inactive when I checked. NextCloud requires your own server, right?

It worked for me. If you have your own server to instsll Nextcloud, thays the best. There are free Nextcloud hosts with free accounts you can try.

I'd even say its one of my favourite pieces of open-source software overall, it's very well made.

AntennaPod is a good one. Personally I use podcastaddict solely because it has casting and I put podcasts on my TV.

I use AntennaPod as well. I cast from it all the time.

Is this a new feature? Last time I used it you had to use screen casting to do that.

[–] SteveDinn@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've been using it for about 1.5 - 2 years. It's always been there for me.

[–] DickJones@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I figured it out, the app from the app store not f-droid has the casting feature. Thanks for the help.

Antenna pod is great. Can't sync with desktop tho.

Podverse! I'm pretty sure it's the only FLOSS app that has implemented all the podcasting 2.0 features. The only thing it's missing is Android Auto :(

[–] tiny@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago

There is a bounty out to get andriod auto support. I use and love podverse

[–] phanto@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

I just synced with gpoddersync, like two minutes ago!

Yes, you need a NextCloud server, but it's getting easier to set up than ever before, and there are third party hosts available for cheap.

I use podverse and love it. the other foss setup I have used is antennapod and kasts synced with the gpodder plugin for nextcloud, but kasts was kinda buggy so I switched to podverse

I used to use AntennaPod a few years ago, not sure what it's like now but it looks to still be updated. Nice app as it has built-in search, etc. rather than just taking RSS feeds.

[–] comradegreetingcard@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Use it every day. It's fantastic

[–] utopologist@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

I use AntennaPod currently, still works great

[–] btfod@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

Another endorsement for AntennaPod, I also use it every single day. No issues with podcast length over here.
