Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

US has a protagonist complex acting like the main character, doing whatever they want, then panicking when other countries push back.

We made a special low spec chip just for you and this is how you thank us?? By making a better chip?? 🀬 You are going to ruin this relationship!!

If China buys American chips, it is a serious threat to US national security, but if China doesn't buy American chips, then they are straining US relations. The nonfalsifiable orthodoxy strikes again. parenti-hands

Wait I thought the US banned the chips πŸ˜‚

They change the narrative depending on their mood

US banned chips – "Based imperialist daddy putting those ASIANS in their place"

China banned chips – "EVIL STATE CCP AUTHORITANKIE TYRANNY!!! WE MUST BOMB THEM ALL AND LIBERATE THE COUNTRY AT ONCE!!!"

I think they put china on a list of enemies that only get to have access to poopoo dog doo doo quality chips, now China is forbidding their companies from using western poopoo quality chips so they don't make their products shitty and encourages chinese companies to spend on higher end domestically manufactured chips which will further reduce the gap between Chinese and western produced chip production

Now the u.s. is mad because nvidia made a bunch of doo doo chips probably loaded with spyware just for china and now who's gonna buy it??

I love all this crying about intellectual property like didn't the U.S. literally steal machine tools from Belgium to get its early industrial start

they were still "stealing" copyrighted stuff from the fucking UK in 1965! so really, they took IP laws super seriously and this isnt about being a sore loser.

So this ban is about China only chips since Nvidia isn't even allowed to export the good stuff to China. AND companies are still allowed to buy the Nvidia chips if they can come up with a justified reason why they need to use them over domestic chips.
