General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

What nobody has properly explained to me is why... why these Western governments fall over themselves to help Israel when they are clearly hell bent on genocide?

Like what is the risk reward for them? Are they being paid stupid amounts of money? Is everyone in power blackmailed by Mossad? What is it to these countries like the US, UK, Germany, etc ? If Afghanistan or Iran came to us and said "Hey can you give us weapons and train our military so we can clear out these pesky people on the edges of our country and buy our goods and services made from occupied land for a shit ton of money" would we do that?

I think I know the reason for this: good old fashioned racism. But it constantly baffles me why the UK risks being associated with Israeli genocide like this.

Racsism is likely part of it, but the real value is in having a solid ally that can be used as a base to project power across the largest oil producing region in the world.

How long Israel remains seen as a solid ally given their recent unhinged and mask off behaviour remains to be seen. To me it does feel like there is a sea change in opinion on them, both from everyday people and from politicos.

Training as in "how to shoot 6 year old children whilst they scramble for food". Here.

Disgraceful.
