This will have no impact on my permanent boycott of EA products.

[–] y0kai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I play their free games because i assume it costs them money for the license and every time I download something from their servers.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

I just treat all of their offerings, regardless of cost, as polonium.

They sell the data collected from your activity to data brokers and in multiplayer games you serve as opponent or ally to paying customers.

If you want to boycott them, avoid them. If you want to play the games that's fine, just be honest to yourself.

You suppose they're doing it out of love of the game?

Them not supporting Linux makes it easy for me to maintain my personal ban on EnshitificationAmalgamated.

[–] gigachad@piefed.social 31 points 1 month ago

Well and I don't support EA, that closes the circle

This is the only thing EA has released in years I was interested in. Wasn’t going to buy it anyways, and now I can’t play it even if I wanted to. I’ll just stick to session and skater XL if I want the skate experience.

Tony Hawk's™ Pro Skater™ 1 + 2 works well on Linux too

[–] FuyuhikoDate@feddit.org 9 points 1 month ago

Full Circle / EA...

And that is the moment where I usually stop reading 🤣

Oh, that's a shame. My desire to try out Bazzite outweighs my desire to play this game, though.

If it's proton compatible, it might still be possible to play on something beefier than a steam deck, maybe?

Unfortunately, the issue is with the kernel-level EA Javelin anticheat.

[–] monogram@feddit.nl 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Why do you need a kernel anti cheat for a scateboard game?

[–] Junkers_Klunker@feddit.dk 5 points 1 month ago

Bazzite is great, EA not so much.

Skate 3 works in xenia to scratch the itch.

[–] InvestBurnout@fedia.io 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And it also works in RPCS3!

[–] Ghoelian@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Do you know which of those two is the most accurate? I kinda want to play skate 3 now lol

[–] kilgore_trout@feddit.it 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I have played Kingdom Hearts on RPCS3 before, with no issue.

I would gladly deal with cheaters over this BS. How are they putting it on android and iOS? What’s the excuse there?

[–] cm0002@piefed.world 11 points 1 month ago

What’s the excuse there?

Same thing as always, money

[–] domdanial@reddthat.com 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You can emulate android on Linux right? Would that be a way to run it? Not that I would really endorse still giving them money for the headache

[–] moistracoon@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Interesting idea. We’ll have to find out!

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

They can keep it. No need to buy what they f-ck up.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Well that's ok, because I don't buy EA games anyhow.

[–] another_kbin_addict@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Skate 2 and 3 sure are fun.
