The questions we laypeople who have no experience in an area need to ask when someone raises an idea like this is "Is this actually unusual activity? Or is this actually just a relatively common thing that regular people just never pay attention to?" It's like every time the goverment starts talking about UFOs, suddenly, a lot more laypeople start reporting UFO sightings. Are there actually more things flying around up there? No, people are just paying attention to something they usually ignore and know nothing about, so they see "weird" lights and assume it must be related to the Important Thing that is currently happening, when they're just seeing planes, satellites, meteors, planets etc.
People are really good at pattern recognition, too good, we spot patterns everywhere, where they don't exist and it is easy to connect the dots of unrelated events without realising that is what we are doing. The important thing is to thoroughly investigate and challenge ideas, even those that "make sense"
