FYI, the YouTube algorithm positively freaks out when you watch a video below 1x speed because of the increased watchtime.

Iiiinteresting. How does it "freak out" - in favour of the video, or against it? I'd guess in favour?
Yea, the spiffing brit I think did a couple videos on it. Something about watch percentage was/is based on time watched vs the length of the video so if you watch 2 hours of a 1 hour video it gets a 200% watch rate.
I mean that makes sense? What would make more sense is just playing the video twice.
I would honestly expect them to base it on percentage of video watched, and count that per watch session. But, that would mean they couldn't stiff creators when the majority of people watch the video sped up, which I bet is more common than slowed down by quite a margin.
So yeah, I guess it does make sense 😅

Yep, in favour. It basically boosts the watch time, because you literally spend longer watching the video.
