The only real accomplishment he'll get is non-US-controlled war crime trials for US military personell. Perhaps even politicians.

According to the Geneva conventions (which the US is a party to), the prospective war criminal's state basically gets first dibs to prosecute their own war criminals. What this means is they can be game the system and be incredibly lenient - they just need to keep the appearance of impartiality.

A real alternative is another party stepping up. Historically that was the other side of the war, but today most likely an international org.

These Nazis need to learn the meaning of due process, like those other Nazis. Enjoy your time of freedom couch fucker. No couches in prison.

It's very shortsighted for leaders to be pro anything that doesn't have due process.

If this regime doesn't keep power forever the next regime can just disappear him and his family and just paste his response saying he doesn't give a shit about due process when someone asks what happened to them.

I was actually thinking about mob justice vs due process yesterday, and how it applies to the most despicable individuals.

On the one hand, mob justice often provides a sense of that guy definitely got what he deserved. But on the other, news about what happened to Mussolini's body was allegedly what preceded Hitler's decision to kill himself.

If history had been allowed to witness the two (not to mention Himmler) truly brought to justice on a world stage, could it have potentially decreased the chances others would feel emboldened enough to follow in their footsteps?

I highly doubt it. Power thirsty assholes won't be stopped so easily.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

cat. Sorry, posted before I finished the sentence. Definitely meant a stray cat.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I get a real sense this is exactly the kind of guy that is abusive to animals. Cat is better off feral.

What if it's a really big cat? Maybe something with a mane?

He doesn’t give a shit about anything but his daddy, Peter Thiel.

Karma comes for people like him.

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 day ago

No it doesn’t.

When the next political party takes over the US there will be a “it’s time to move on” and let all these criminals get away with everything.

Yeah Kissinger lived a long life of luxury after his policies wrecked millions of lives and cause countless deaths.

People who believe in karma are just huffing copium to ignore the fact that largely these people get away with it.

Did they forget that Dubya Bush is now looked at as a cute old man giving Michelle Obama candy because Barack Obama was too much of a pussy to take Bush and his administration to task for their large number of war crimes?

Karma my ass.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

To be fair the Obama admin also committed war crimes, as has every administration in modern history. America has so, so much blood on its hands.

[–] Puddinghelmet@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)
