"Biden is a warmonger", " Kamala is a warmonger"🤦

There can be multiple assholes...

Like, Biden literally violated the Leahy law

(a) IN GENERAL. – No assistance shall be furnished under this Act or the Arms Export Control Act to any unit of the security forces of a foreign country if the Secretary of State has credible information that such unit has committed a gross violation of human rights.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leahy_Law

There was credible evidence US weapons were used in Israels's genocide of Palestinians.

Congress didn't immediately approve more aid, so Biden unilaterally (and illegally) went around Congress to provide arms that then were used to commit genocide.

Is trump worse?

Fucking obviously.

But Joe Biden is a fucking war criminal and Kamala repeatedly and proudly told anyone that would listen she'd be exactly the same.

How far back do we need to go until we find a president that didn't commit a war crime?

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You could make a case for the Carter administration. The worst knocks against him were arms sales to Indonesia after their invasion of East Timor and to the Shah before the Iranian Revolution. Probably some reactionary leaders in South America too.

Besides that you’d have to go all the way back to Hoover who may have been completely unequipped to resolve the Great Depression but did do a ton of work with humanitarian food aid during and in the wake of the First World War. It’s very likely he saved tens of millions of lives from starvation.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wow you're really softballing the fact that Carter helped commit genocide there.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I think the blame mostly lies on Ford there, and I’d say my response speaks more to how low of a bar modern presidencies have set rather than my feelings on East Timor.

[–] Zexks@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Not fucking obvoously. Since these kinds of arguments led us to trump 2.0. So thanks for that.

[–] locuester@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The truth led us to Trump, so we should conceal it instead? What garbage.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

Lies and people willing to believe them because they fit their hateful worldview is what led us to Trump.

Not “Truth”.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip -2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Locuester in a previous post: I don’t follow much politics, and I dont follow political history either.

Well, that fucking scans.

[–] locuester@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

So because I dont follow politics, my opinion that we shouldn’t conceal history is invalid?

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If you don't follow politics and understand political history, you can't profess what truth is or is not.

So, yes, you should not have an opinion if you do not understand the situation.

That handy little truth statement you made is just the proliferation of propaganda.

[–] locuester@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I’m not the one that said there was some fact about Biden being a war criminal. Someone else did. Then someone else said it needs concealed. I simply said we shouldn’t conceal truths.

If that statement about Biden being a war criminal isn’t true, lay it out there.

As far as I can tell, all the USA leaders are criminals and belong behind bars, especially Trump, but what do I know?

The Secretary of State is appointed by the President though.

And I'm certain they argued there was no credible information Israel committed gross violations of human rights. Maybe it was only "normal" violations of human rights. Or maybe the information was somewhat incredible. Or maybe the Secretary of State said "LALALALALALALA" and closed their eyes and ears when presented with information so they didn't technically have it.

"and so is Trump and Bush and Obama"

[–] Sidhean@piefed.social 13 points 4 days ago

I am the PRESIDENT of PEACE, okay? The PRESIDENT of PEACE.

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That’s every American. Americans have only ever known war and destruction and it’s shown by the way you act and push yourselves militarily on the world.

[–] dissentiate@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Blanket statements are fun.

As a 50 year old adult, I've read that before as well as many other things that put out the truth over not wanting to hide shameful historical events.

I've been beaten by cops at antiwar protests, fought cops at the Seattle WTO protest, and have proudly thrown punches against fascists since the 1990s.

I say all this because I know for a god damn fact that I don't support war regardless of where it is. And I am not alone in that sentiment.

But, I'll get to the point: placing all Americans as culpable in the acts of a government is a blanket statement. I'm pissed with a lot of the people here too, but I'll never believe I'm the only person who stands against this country's war machine.

"Drag queens prey on children", "trans people are groomers", "Biden is senile"

He’s trying so hard to not talk about Epstein.

[–] JustJack23@slrpnk.net 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Iam still waiting for someone to "is it true you were too poor to go to the island"

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 5 points 3 days ago

"can we stop talking about Epstein? He's obviously very self conscious because he wasn't popular enough to go there."

They're already sinking random boats.
