Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

I was going to ask why all the "don't tread on me" types are being so quiet about this but I realized it's because they're too busy signing up to do the treading.

In light of Trump 2.0 - I'm actually surprised that right-wing gun orgs like the NRA don't make some changes. The NRA could start to heavily praise ICE, hail Trump (and his upcoming, god-given third presidential term), use variations of the 14 words, and say the modern reason for the 2nd Amendment is to stop UN tyrants, Communist tyrants, Democrat tyrants, etc.

It's what the vast majority of republican gun owners think anyway so why not make it official?

Real questions that sound silly:

Are the units that are carrying guns also being issued ammo?

Is the ammo being issued to everybody in the unit or just some people in the unit?

What is the ammo load for the soldiers who are being issued ammo?

Honestly no one knows right now. All we can do is speculate.

After the Haiti earthquake soldiers were issued mags with live rounds but instructed not to put it in their weapon.

During Katrina most of the soldiers were walking around with empty mags.

During J6 none of the soliders were issued live rounds.

During the BLM protests many states did have their guardsmen walking around with live rounds.

I could see the DC guys walking around with live rounds in their mags, but I could also just as easily see there being no live ammo on anyone below staff sergeant. No commander wants their career killed just because one of their dumbass soldiers shot an American citizen.

They issue firearms but no ammunition? America never ceases to amaze (bad)

Oh... oh yeah.

After the Sept 11 2001 attacks, we'd be working "gate guard" with no weapons. Sometimes there would be an MP with us who would have a side arm and they may or may not have been issued with a magazine with some random amount of ammunition.
