Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Williams’ order — a temporary injunction that will hold as the case continues to be litigated — comes in a lawsuit filed by environmental groups and the Miccosukee Tribe arguing that the state and federal governments cut important corners when erecting the site in a matter of days. The Tribe and environmental groups had requested that the judge grant a preliminary injunction shutting down the site, citing “irreparable” harm the facility could cause to the Everglades.

While I respect the effort, that shit is getting torched. If they don't comply with a federal judge, they'd presumably have to send federal enforcement. And the idea that Trump is going to do anything because of the environmental impact is... ambitious. I would anticipate Trump saying "fuck you" today.

Shutting down the alligator concentration camp, not because it is inhumane, cruel, and an indictment of a lack of humanity, but because it wasn't built to respect the environment

liberalism

There are still more laws on the books in the US protecting the environment than preventing cruelty, so it's a solid strategy.

Sure, and it might work

But then a liberal admin will just quietly, competently build a facility designed to hold the same amount of people for the same purpose in the same general area, and all of these jackoffs will be too busy trumpeting their 'success' to notice

If a judge says it, well, then this time it’s for-realsies-no-backsies

How fast will GOP SCOTUS move to keep the concentration camp open?

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago

They don't have to, they'll just keep it open anyways and no one will stop them.

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Probably already done and they just haven't announced it yet.

Sasha Obama makes campaign promise to close Guantanamo

I was hoping I'd be able to say that, after all this, liberals would finally learn that "laws" and "decorum" and whatever else doesn't really exist if the guy in charge says they don't, but it appears that was also wishful thinking.

[–] CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

Finally... we beat drumpf guys. Schumer will be in a few days from now to pull out all the stops to pass a bill demaning they rename alligator alcatraz (unenforceable)

What is Judge going to do when Trump says fuck you? Draft another order saying he has to shut it down for real this time?
