Elon Musk’s company, Tesla, should have its application to supply energy to UK homes blocked on national security grounds, Ed Davey has told ministers.

The Liberal Democrat leader argued that giving the electric car manufacturer a foothold in the British energy market would be “a gravely concerning move considering Elon Musk’s repeated interference in UK politics”.

Tesla has a clean energy arm and applied in July for a licence to supply power to British homes.

If the licence is granted by the regulator, Ofgem, the US company could be competing with big UK domestic energy suppliers such as British Gas and Octopus as soon as next year.

Just look at how he's strangleholded all the countries he's given Starlink to in emergencies. Takes it down at the most 'inconvenient' moments because someone told him to or because he's throwing his toys out of the pram.

they won't be a grid operator though, just a reseller, they shoudn't have the ability to do anything other than screw up your billing without installing additional equipment.

"Shouldn't"

"...we’ve learned that xAI is using 35 methane gas burning turbines,” said Pearson, who is the director of the advocacy group Memphis Community Against Pollution. “They have submitted a permit to our Shelby county health department for 15, yet they are using double that amount with no permit.”

Give him an inch...

Back in the Roman republic, rich guys would provide public roads, aqueducts, games, etc. this was to get the plebs to see you as their benefactor, not the state. It wasn’t charity, it was name recognition, it was knowing the lower classes were kissing your ass and would protect you.

Don’t let things end up that way, tell this rich fuck to pay his taxes instead and to fuck off into a volcano already

Fascist Techno-Oligarch Elon Musk obviously shouldn't be given any control over the United Kingdom's vital national infrastructure. His track record speaks for itself.

No private for-profit business or individual, international or national, should EVER control our key national infrastructure.

Electricity, Water, Sewage, Health Service, Internet connectivity, Roads, Trains, Military, Aeroplane infrastructure, Fire Brigade, Education, Street Lighting, Police Service, etc.

All are vital to the nation and the public interest, and should be owned by the people of the nation and managed by the democratically elected governing body the people have placed in charge to run things, without the capitalist profits driven mindsets of private individuals.

This just seems like obvious common sense to me, and yet here we are, sadly.

Agreed, but our government is already handing our health data to Palantir on a plate so I doubt they'll deny other dragons a share of the island.
