Curiosity killed the cat on this one. Luckily satisfaction brought him back. I had a legion go, sold it at a loss because with the bad battery, weight and comparatively inferior performance, it was less convenient than just sitting at my desktop. I started using steam link a lot and randomly decided “you know what, I kind of want a steam deck actually.” I saw one on eBay and bid at the last minute, not expecting to win, but now here I am, sitting next to a steam deck. Part of me wishes the sides came off, but I just ordered a steam controller and called it a day.

What I love about it is the sense of real ownership I get from this. It’s opened me to using Linux, and the level of customization is insane to me. My Switch 2 is sitting in the corner crying because I’m never buying a third party game on it again.

Oh and of course, the trackpads are just amazing.

Right now, I’m thinking of upgrading the SSD and changing the shell and button colors, but I’ve heard the latter is pretty difficult.
