Not that you're wrong, but the strike doesn't even go that far. They not even getting paid for a large portion of their work, at all, so they're asking to be paid for time at work that is currently unpaid.

The Americas won't heal until unions are ready to start breaking kneecaps again.
If all unions/workers were as united and steadfast as this, a new an era of better life would be on the horizon for everyone.

Why don't leftist go support these things. Like if this was conservatives, there would be support across the country with multiple conveys loaded up and lawyer funds reaching into the millions. Every overpass across the country would be filled with people with signs in solidarity. But leftist with all their talk about solidarity just watch from the sidelines and will move on to a new thing by tomorrow. Are they stupid?
I can’t tell if you are serious or trolling and don’t want to get political, but conservatives would be more likely to send in the military to quell the dissent, or try to cut strike benefits and government support for the workers.
Saying conservatives will protect anyone but the 1% is just bonkers. Liberals aren’t much better, but the right leaning folk are looking at the U.S and taking notes.
As long as there is a polarized system in this country, nothing will really change. They all shake their fists and make noise when the cameras are on, while playing golf together on the weekends. The system itself is designed to keep us divided and distracted.
Can you tell me how what you said in relation to the convey protest?
I read your response and it feels like you're arguing that conservatives wouldn't fight for unions and what their message is. The point I'm making is not that they would fight for that. I'm making the point that the right mobilize and fight for what they say they believe in. The left will protest but it's not effective. The two parties are weirdly divided in their approach with entirely different results.
I must be reading your previous post wrong. I agree that the right do mobilize better.
If we only had a political system that allowed democracy without corporate influence, insider trading and completely whacko voting, we would be set.
But are those excuses?
I used to think that was why we were beat. But the past few years the way I have seen the average right wing person obsessively fight for their issues has changed my views.
No, they are not excuses. They are the carefully upheld cheat codes for government and the preferred tools of corruption that plague North America and other places. There can be no real democracy when corporations can use bribes to sway political favour.
I can’t tell if you are actually suggesting that a system where the squeakiest wheel gets the grease, is actually good or not.
The right sure can whip themselves into a frenzy. But what good is that when it is really poorly planned, executed even worse, and most often based on lies and bigotry?
Politicians should by legally and morally bound to do what’s best for their country and their constituents regardless of their affiliations, beliefs, or opinions.
Sure, they swear the oaths, but how many actually heed them?
Just using the terms (left, right, liberal, conservative, centrist, far-left, far-right, etc) is actually helping feed the elite political establishment by falling into the trap they have set to keep us all arguing over nothing, while they pass laws and make deals to ultimately chip away at our mechanisms of meaningful progress.
If you ask people from any political belief what they want at their core for society, I am willing to bet you would get very similar answers ( jobs, safety, health care, future for next generations, etc), so why is their so much division?
Doesn't matter what government you pick, liberal values are closer to conservative values than leftist values.
