I need to exercise more, because I never feel like I have a full energy bar.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 46 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Because I never feel like I have a full energy bar, I don't exercise more.

For me I notice if I have less than 3500 steps a day type of activity I get extremely lazy and just start accepting procrastination on things. The lawn can be cut next week, the dish I ate off of can wait till morning. Going to the store sounds like a chore.

When I'm averaging around 20,000 steps a day I want to get more done, so I'll do that stuff quicker.

There is usually more mental stuff tied to it, like if I'm happy with my job, I get way more done at home. When I was working 50+ hour weeks but enjoyed it I cooked twice a day, cleaned everything daily, hell at one point I vaccumed the house 3x per week and cleaned my carpets every weekend. When I'm not happy at work or not working I just don't want to do anything, and I'll go months without vacuuming because what's the point.

Sidenote: if you use a carpet cleaner to often, its not good for the carpets, so find better activities

It's amazing how much better your brain feels when you exercise. If you don't like to exercise, try a weight vest. You just walk with it on and your heart rate gets up to where it needs to be

I was gonna say, what adult would say they have energy

[–] knightly@pawb.social 31 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The only adults I know with money have no energy and vice versa.

[–] dmention7@midwest.social 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, Energy + Money needs to be like your first 5 years out of university, assuming you landed a good job. Most of my adult life has felt like a full money bar, but empty time and energy.

Here's to getting old I guess, so at least I can have some time again! 🍻

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Alright, humble brag. 🤪 Throw some coins to your bitchers already.

[–] dmention7@midwest.social 6 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Trade me some energy and you've got a deal lol

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You have a working conversion rate going on that offer, Daddy Warbucks, or are we just gonna handwave it to keep the plot from allowing the punters' focus to linger on the underlying problems too long, hmm?

[–] dmention7@midwest.social 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

1 energy = 1 money

🙏 🤲 🙏 🤲 👀

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago

Funny. I didn't know that "erg" was an onomatopoeia. 🤣🤌🏻

[–] gerryflap@feddit.nl 2 points 3 weeks ago

In some jobs you can. I switched to working 36 hours which effectively traded money for time and energy. The moment that money bar fills up with sufficient buffer again I'll probably switch to 32. It mainly provides time though, not energy. But it's better than nothing

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Wait. When does the money happen?

There's so many broke ass boomers. Don't get me wrong, they had it comparatively easy but the narrative they're all rich is patently false.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, I was being hyperbolic.

[–] msage@programming.dev 2 points 3 weeks ago

They are patently more rich than following generations.

[–] xJREB@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Ah, that's easy, you just inherit it from your rich parents. See? Problem solved!

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

But you also have to be neurotypical and not be LGBT and not have depression otherwise they'll just disinherit you.

[–] SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml 22 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Adult and full energy.... Yeah right

[–] FuckFascism@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Adult and lots of money... no way!

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Break from the norm and make a little money however you can and live within your means.

The price you pay for living with little is not that bad when you have your total freedom to gain.

I spent the past 30 years scraping by doing odd jobs, building, construction, renovating and whatever hands on work I could find. I'm no pro, I just work and work continuously. I'm not wealthy by any stretch, but I do own outright two old used vehicles, three old motorcycles and I own my own small property. If you saw my old house and old car and truck, you'd think I didn't have much money. My greatest wealth is in being able to say I own all my things and property without debt.

After spending years wondering what to do with my life, I'm happy with where I am now.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

Oh! Perfect! A simple solution! 😶

[–] Natanox@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There's none that got time but neither energy nor money. I feel left out.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

This would probably have a lot of energy too but maybe it's really tired 'cause it's old

[–] TimboSlice@discuss.online 5 points 3 weeks ago

I love the middle finger happy face meme, I have it on my car

[–] Jakule17@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Since when do pensioners have a lot of time? That is definitely not the case in my country

[–] bubblybubbles@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

I think I skipped over adult. I’m now old, and just barely starting to get some money.
