General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

You'll need to petition the next leader of the country, Keir Starmer.

Right now he wants the Brexit voters on the red wall so you'll have to wait a few parliaments or get this..... vote for another party 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Yeah, here’s the thing. Even if the UK tried to get back in, they wouldn’t want us. Not until we get some unity on the matter, with stable leadership. Also, we’d almost certainly need to adopt the Euro. That’s sure to annoy a lot of folks.

This is likely why we're starting to hear about the tiered EU systems. To allow nations who may not be able to participate fully, to at least participate partly.

Such a shame that we left before the new system. We could have used our influence to help build the tiers. A founding member of the “new” system, for the 21st century.

Definitely. People were already discussing how membership could be tiered at that point, from the UK as well.
Unfortunately, the people standing to make big money from the UK leaving the EU pushed it along, whipped up the people stuck in the last century that the only option was leave or go, and we ended up where we are.
