while billionaires keep raping kids? yea no, go fuck yourself. this sounds like ravings of a person afraid of losing his possessions and life.

~~Sci-Fi Author~~ George Orwell: In my book I invented the ~~Torment Nexus~~ telescreen as a cautionary tale

Tech Company: At long last, we have created the ~~Torment Nexus~~ telescreen from classic ~~sci-fi~~ dystopian novel ~~Don't Create The Torment Nexus~~ Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Why do billionaires always look like creepy Madame Tussauds wax statues?

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

He's literally 80 years old. You can only do so much to hide your age before you start looking absurd.

[–] _core@sh.itjust.works 28 points 3 days ago

He says that the police will be under constant surveillance. They already are and they still get away with crimes. Unless being a criminal is a cops best behaviour.

[–] Rubisco@slrpnk.net 29 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Hey man, nice shot.

Says a wealth-hoarding, mass carbon-polluting asshole. His ethics and those of everyday people are vastly vastly different due to his inability to pay taxes.

*You best start believing in Technofeudalist societies, you're in one. *

[–] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 46 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Inability?

Larry Ellison pays less taxes than you because he is a parasite on society and we let him steal from us.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago

Yeah, right. His inability is a choice, an ethical one.

How about the billionaires? Any rules for them?

If the billionaires want the Chinese model for us, it's only fair they fall under that same model.

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

You know what? Seeing as how we're getting it anyway whether we like it or not, I think I'd voluntarily take the surveillance state and censorship if it comes with rich people getting absolutely stomped by the government when they get out of line.

Maybe we can adopt the Vietnamese model where that billionaire either pays back $9 billion of embezzled funds or gets executed.

If we can't have a real democracy with real freedom I at least want blood of vengeance to bathe in from time to time.

Fed into woodchippers like they deserve.

[–] chris@lemmy.zip 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Can we have a crowd-sourced bounty system for billionaires? The more billions they have the higher the bounty. I think it would be a good investment of public funds and benefit mankind greatly.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Be the change you want to see in the world.

[–] capsdroopy@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 days ago

Truly nothing like Big Brother telling you he's gonna big brother you. And of course don't forget that those in power will never be subjected to this, it's only for the little peasants in case they may decide to not fully conform to their ideal society (wageslaving to make the rich richer until you drop dead)

[–] mctoasterson@reddthat.com 35 points 3 days ago

Oracle is one of the worst companies in history and it's products are ass.

ORACLE: One Rich Asshole Called Larry Ellison

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 36 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This is a reminder post. Remember when tech billionaire Larry Ellison said this?

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

On the 17th of September last year?

[–] Zier@fedia.io 27 points 3 days ago

LOL! So republicans will stop committing crimes? Can't wait to see your son destroy CBS/Paramount.

Isn't that literally the premise of 1984?

[–] Kurious84@lemmings.world 7 points 2 days ago

Melt face son and a bitch. You can't take that wealth with you scumbag.

[–] mhague@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The 0.1% are like turbo hedonists. If they beat the population into being severe ascetics then the ones who stick out will be: elites, politicians, authorities, politicians, suck-ups, spoiled heirs, politicians, etc.

I think all the little things people "get to do" help contribute to the "temporarily embarrassed millionaire" mentality. Take that away and there's going to be significantly less tolerance for corruption.

And the elites will create a system where the only way to vote is to spill blood.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What a coinkidink!

I just predicted this morning that the way things are going his and his billionaire friend’s heads will be on pikes before the end of the decade

It will be declared an international monument that will be visited by schools for decades to come to learn about the importance of regular class wars to keep the parasites in check in a society.

lol is this guy seriously discounting that people, fully non-anonymous and out in the public view, can be assholes?

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Also discounting what the rest of our definitions of assholes are.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Or that the current administration is holding up and defending a child rapist? Lmao.

[–] EntropyFlux@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

Golly, sounds like it’s time to watch Larry Ellison a lot closer too.

[–] shaggyb@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Does he count as a citizen? Will he be surveilled also to keep him in line? Will it force them to be kind to their employees and not cheat them?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

No. Laws don’t apply to oligarchs.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

keep pushing Larry, we all dare you

[–] TheFermentalist@reddthat.com 12 points 3 days ago

The problem is that they do keep pushing. And getting away with it.
