what's the problem with putting a bunch of disks in a desktop?

@kboyd @frameworkcomputer @framework I backed an Orico NAS on Kickstarter, we’ll see how that goes. I’m not sure if the mainboard is a standard kind or not, but you can replace RAM and all the storage of course. Pretty sure the CPU is too, but I’m not sure about its cooler.
A Framework Desktop with slightly refocused internals would make a pretty nice home/small biz NAS.
I got a ugreen nas. It was cheap. Their OS is Debian underneath. I installed NixOS on it. Seems to work well.
You don't have to wait! You can start today with one of these and any second hand USFF PC. The Terramaster boxes are also decent. 😊
why not keep the Synology as use it for storage only?
What would be the OS though?
@mattyroses well, to be clear, I made this post before the Dhh stuff. But it would likely have been FreeBSD or Ubuntu.
(As in, I would have installed my own OS)
