waiting for all the "well we really haven't breached it till we see multiyear it might be a blip". Its a full year. that is more than enough. I would say we really breached it before 2023.

I wish people would stop using words like "symbolic". This isn't a symbol. Calling it one threatens to dilute the message.
It was symbolic though, as welll as based on evidence. The world's commitment to take action to avoid breaching the barrier was a symbol of united, global political action. The fact that we have failed... and failed ahead of predictions is of course deeply worrying.
Here in Seattle we have trees blooming early February. We've hit mid 50's several weeks in a row. It's just so weird.
On the other hand, most folks are happy it's not freezing outside. ๐ค
