If they had anything worth a damn they'd have already released them. The threats to do so are a joke.

It would already be somewhere like DDOSecrets.

I mean, what exactly would an email dump accomplish? Hard to embarrass these guys in any way that matters. They just keep plugging on, doing crimes and ruining lives, while sending their goon squads to rough up any news reporter who asks a difficult question at a press briefing.

The fact that this is "Iran" implicated in the data dump only gives the bigger media outlets one more excuse to ignore the release and freeze out anyone involved in its distribution.

It's one step. It's incremental. He does have a cult of personality, which complicates things.

Tell it to Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Okay, I don't know if they'll get my message.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Assange is aware, he helped Trump after all.

By exposing a Bush-Era spying program in 2006?

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

By specifically targeting only Hillary Clinton for then2016 election, in collaboration with Russia having worked for RT before going to the Ecuadorian embassy, corroborated by the Ecuadorian president....

But if you want to pretend none of this happened, go for it.

By specifically targeting only Hillary Clinton

That's categorically untrue.

The 2015/2016 leaks indicated dozens of elected and appointed officials, apparatchiks, and major donors across parties both in the US and UK.

That's not even including the reporting done in combat zones and torture blacksites released during the same time.

The fact that Hillary repeated defended her corrupt fellow partisans and criminal state-level co-conspirators was what dragged her into the center of the shit storm.

in collaboration with Russia having worked for RT

CIA agent calmly explaining why you should never trust information you get from a spook.

lol

Enjoy your imagination bud.

LabourLeaks Isn't Real is certainly a take.

And I guess we'll just ignore Reality Winner?

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

Brings up unrelated shit

Not interested dude.

Wouldn't matter if they did. His followers wouldn't care, if they ever find out.

Weak sauce.

I can understand cheering for this to be released as we can imagine that these fascists would suffer some sort of consequence or comeuppance.

But let's not kid ourselves, they control the media and they're immune to the sort of legal consequences that could come from any sort of exposé. He's already a fascist doing fascist things!

I just wished that we realized that if we want them to suffer the consequences of being fascists, we have to do it ourselves and not by staying behind a screen.

While Iran isn’t considered one of the most sophisticated cyber actors in the world (Israel, for instance, is considered to be much more formidable), the group that allegedly hacked the Trump campaign is said to employ fairly tricky tactics.

It's the Trump administration. You could probably just send them an email saying, "We believe you're the victim of a cyber attack. Forward your emails to this address so we can scan them and remove the malware."

[–] 100@fedia.io 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

any group is vulnerable to a hack if security isnt babysitting those that fall for the simplest phishing attempts

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago

any group is vulnerable to a hack

You can stop there and be pretty accurate. The best we have is air-gapping private systems and trying really hard to secure private networks device to endpoint. As long as there are zero day exploits and well funded nation-states, there will always be back-doors in silicon.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 1 points 2 days ago

Confidence games are the oldest trick in the book. Layering technology on top of them doesn't make it "hacking."

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Are you guys here? Do it.

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 5 points 2 days ago

Dumpy looks high AF in that image.

[–] HalfSalesman@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

There is basically nothing that could be contained within such emails that would change almost anyone's mind about Trump that hasn't already come to some kind of conclusion about him. The only thing is might do it reveal some kind of technical non-moral weak spot.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

So? It's not like it would change anything.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

This should be fun.

Jesus does trump just shoot blood out of his eyes now? For fucks sake man, invest in some visine.

Can any of it be used to start a court case somewhere he doesn't own? That's the only thing that matters now. Indict him or shut up.
